South Korea-China Trade Surges in First Half of Year, Driven by Semiconductor Exports

by

According to trade statistics from the Korea International Trade Association, South Korea’s semiconductor exports to China surged by 177.6% in the first half of the year, reaching $57.08 billion. Semiconductors now account for 57.3% of all South Korean exports to China, highlighting the heavy reliance on the semiconductor sector for bilateral trade.

Beyond semiconductors, other key sectors also saw growth, including computers (+116.2%), petrochemical intermediates (+30.2%), and wireless communication devices (+19.2%). This broad-based recovery indicates a strengthening of trade ties and a rebound in demand for Korean high-tech components within the Chinese market.
